Have a Solar Panel? Easton Regulates Them Now

City adopts ordinance that protects/regulates placement of solar panels.

Easton City Council has finally approved the city's solar panel ordinance.

Council voted Wednesday night in favor of the ordinance, which protects solar panels from neighbors who could plant trees -- or construct buildings -- that would block the sunlight going to the panels.

City officials have also said they want to regulate solar panels to keep them from becoming like satellite dishes -- installed without much thought for aesthetics.

"The goal is to avoid the satellite dish forest which has taken over the West Ward," William Dohe of the city's Environmental Advisory Council wrote in a letter to the editor explaining the thinking behind the oridinance last year.

You can read a copy of the ordinance on the city website. We've also attached it to this story.
