Judge Rejects Chrin Landfill Appeal

A Northampton County judge has rejected pair of appeals challenging a zoning ruling that will allow the Chrin landfill to expand.

Residents had opposed the decision by Williams Township in 2009 to rezone the landfill property, but Judge Emil Giardano said they failed to make their case, according to the Express-Times.

The newspaper also reports that the landfill has agreed to pay a $114,000 fine to the Department of Enrivonmental Protection, and make changes to address concerns about waste management, odor and air quality.
