Man Selling Heroin Had Other Drugs, Police Say

Easton police charge Bethlehem resident after officer witnesses an apparent drug deal.

After an Easton detective saw what appeared to be a drug deal go down Saturday afternoon, he stopped one of the alleged participants, who admitted to having heroin.

But that’s not all the detective found on the suspect, Carlos Alberto Hernandez, 27, of Bethlehem, court records say.

The detective, Anthony Arredondo, found not only heroin but quantities of cocaine and marijuana on Hernandez, the records say.

Arredondo writes in a criminal complaint that he stopped Hernandez after seeing the suspected drug deal on the 1100 block of Northampton Street around 3pm.

Hernandez, a passenger in a Chevy Blazer, was also found to have cash – the amount is not specified – and several cell phones.

The complaint says nothing about the Blazer’s driver.

Hernandez, of 633 Ramblewood Lane in Bethlehem’s Marvine-Pembroke neighborhood, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver – cocaine and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver – heroin.

Although the complaint says Hernandez was found to have some marijuana, none of the charges involve marijuana.

Hernandez was arraigned by on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter of Wilson and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
