Man Tossed Drugs Into Creek, Police Say

Dennis Mark Smull faces drug and evidence tampering charges.

Easton police have made an arrest in a November case in which a man allegedly threw a pipe and a package of marijuana into Bushkill Creek.

Dennis Mark Smull, 55, listed in court records as living at the Safe Harbor shelter, 536 Bushkill Drive in the city, was charged with possession or distribution of a small amount of marijuana and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence.

A criminal complaint filed by city Patrolman Phillip McGuigan says Smull, upon seeing police shortly after 4 p.m. Nov. 7, threw the pipe and bag of marijuana into the creek.

The incident allegedly occurred on the 500 block of Stair Street, which runs to the east side of the Bushkill and is on the opposite side of the creek from N. Locust and Bushkill streets.

Smull was arraigned Wednesday night by on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township and released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
