'Nature Dave' Enters First-Time Offenders Program

An Easton man who walked into city banks with a "You're Being Robbed" sign as part of an apparent protest will get to avoid having a criminal record.

Dave Gorczynski—also known as "Nature Dave"—agreed Monday to enter Northampton County's Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition, or ARD, program for first-time offenders.

The Morning Call reports this will allow him to have his record expunged provided he completes six months of probation.

In the summer of 2012, Gorczynski was arrested after he brought a sign bearing the slogan "You're being robbed" into two downtown Easton banks.

He carried a second sign, which read "Give a man a gun, he'll rob a bank. Give a man a bank, he'll rob a country."

Gorczynski has said his message wasn't aimed at the bank but rather to its customers: This bank is robbing you.

He was arrested outside the Bank of America—after he'd left after being asked to do so by the manager—and charged with two counts each of attempted robbery, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.

District Attorney John Morganelli later dropped the attempted robbery charges because there was no evidence Gorczynski intended to rob a bank. 

But he also argued that people in the bank had reason to be frightened by a man wearing a bandanna holding a sign that read "You're being robbed."

Gorczynski had been prepared to enter the ARD program last year, but changed his mind at the last minute.
