New Eastwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Easton kicked off National Skilled Nursing Care Week in style with the help of Wilson Borough Mayor Donald Barrett Jr. This year’s carnival theme at the Northampton County skilled nursing center emphasizes life, color and culture.

During the festivities, Mayor Barrett presented New Eastwood with a Certificate of Recognition for the center’s commitment to quality services for those in their care, and he met with residents and staff members and helped in serving refreshments. In true carnival spirit, the event featured vibrant decorations, costume accessories, music, a lemonade bar and cake.

Celebrated annually in May, National Skilled Nursing Care Week recognizes the essential role of skilled nursing centers in caring for America’s seniors and individuals with disabilities. It was established by the American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) in 1967 and follows National Nurses Week.
