Police: Man Assaulted Ex-Girlfriend, Stole Purse

Wayne Dean Hawk, Jr., charged with assault and theft in Wilson.

An Easton man took his ex-girlfriend’s purse, which contained $440 and glasses worth $290, and pushed the woman and pulled her hair, according to court records.

The suspect is Wayne Dean Hawk Jr., 25, of 38 S. Raspberry St. The incident occurred the afternoon of April 21—a Saturday – about five blocks away in Wilson, at 5 N. 19th St.

The ex-girlfriend told police Hawk got upset with her and while they argued he pushed her, pulled her hair and took her purse, ripping the straps off of it while she held the straps, the records say.

Also inside the purse were identification and a set of keys. Hawk left in a gold Ford Explorer.

He was charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking and simple assault and was arraigned Friday afternoon by on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of PalmerTownship, who committed him to Northampton County Prison after he failed to post $10,000 bail.
