Police: Man Punched Pregnant Woman's Stomach

Easton police say an Easton man punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach.

Alexis Orta, 29, of 830 Wolf Ave., Apt. 2, is charged with simple assault, harassment and recklessly endangering another person.

According to police, the assault happened Oct. 27 at a home on the 1000 block of Butler Street.

Court records say officers responded to the residence for a domestic disturbance. A woman there told police that Orta, her boyfriend, had punched her in the stomach. A warrant was issued for his arrest. 

Police say the woman was two-and-a-half months pregnant at the time of the assault. Orta was aware of the pregnancy when he struck his girlfriend, police said.

He was arraigned before District Judge Daniel Corpora and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Orta was charged earlier this year with threatening a man with a 14-inch knife.
