Police: Man Wielded Knife During Fight

Warren Werkheiser charged with aggravated assault.

An Easton was jailed Tuesday after threatening people with a knife during a fight downtown late Monday.

Warren Werkheiser, of the the unit block of North 4th Street, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endagerment, harrassment and disorderly conduct after police responded to reports of "a large fight involving a knife" on South 2nd Street, late Monday, June 27.

Police said Werkheiser threatened others with the weapon, but dropped the knife when ordered by authorities upon their arrival.

He was arraigned before and committed to Northampton County Prison to await trial when he failed to post bail.

Court records indicate that Werkheiser has been an Easton resident for about a month, after residing in North Carolina.
