Police: Woman Kicked Cop, Urinated in Cell

A woman who refused to stop yelling and screaming outside her South Side home early Monday injured a police officer by kicking him in the shin – after she urinated on a holding cell floor despite having access to a toilet, court records say.
Police first encountered a yelling and screaming Gena Delores Mayers, 26, on the 1000 block of W. Berwick Street – about four blocks from her home. She was arrested, issued a non-traffic citation for disorderly conduct and transported to her home, the records say.
Once outside her home, she continued yelling and screaming – and ignoring police warnings to stop. Police took her back into custody, this time taking her to the .
According to the records, Mayers started spitting on a holding cell floor and had to be fitted with a spit mask. She then said she had to urinate, but at first refused to go to a cell with a toilet.
She eventually entered a cell with a toilet and the privacy curtain was lowered. While officers were outside the cell, Mayers urinated on the floor and not in the toilet.
She was then escorted to another cell. While being secured to the wall, she kicked an officer in the right shin – causing redness, swelling, pain and bruising.
Mayers, of 628 W. Berwick St., was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct and institutional vandalism. She was arraigned by on-duty District Judge Robert Hawke of Lehigh Township and committed to after failing to post $25,000 bail.
