Roads Closed During Flooding Re-Open
PennDOT spent Tuesday clearing and scrubbing mud from Route 611 and Lehigh Drive.
PennDOT trucks and heavy equipment arrived on the scene Tuesday to clear Route 611 and Lehigh Drive of large fallen trees and mud after the waters receded from weekend flooding incidents due to Hurricane Irene.
Lehigh Drive, flooded with both runoff and due to the Lehigh River spilling its banks and closed since Saturday evening, was officially re-opened mid-afternoon on Tuesday.
The stretch of Route 611 between South Third Street and Cedarville Road, which was blocked by several large trees that toppled across the roadway as well as a small mudslide, was also expected to be reopened shortly.
