Rovers Win at Freedom, Improve to 3-0

The Red Rovers battled through when the Patriots threatened their early lead in the 6th.

The Rovers surged ahead to an early lead, with strong performances at the mound and in the batter’s box. Pitcher Scott Anderson led the way to his second win of the season. The game went to Easton with a final of 6-4.

Anderson had 6 strikeouts. Alex Lawson was the closing pitcher.

Senior Jonathan Bisci was 2 for 4. Sophomore Nick Beinlich hit a double, scored 2 runs and stole two bases. The Patriots had a strong comeback in the 6th, scoring 3 of their total 4 runs. In the 7th, Alex Lawson struck out the first batter, followed by a key catch in left by Butto. Lawson struck out the final batter to end the Patriots' late game run.

Asked about Easton's effort, Head Coach Carm LaDuca said, “As a coach, you win and feel good about it… but they let the competition back in.”

“Scott pitched really well. Lawson came in and pitched really well. Our guys have to do a better job catching behind [the pitchers,] said Greg Hess, Assistant Coach.

Surely the post-game talk focused on defense – but the players were cautiously optimistic.

“I didn’t have my best stuff today, but we got ahead in the beginning, we coasted. We battled through. It was a group effort,” said Anderson, a senior.

With this win, the Rovers have improved their record to 3-0.  Easton has a busy week ahead with road trips to Liberty on Wednesday and Allentown Central Catholic on Friday. They'll complete the week with a home game against Pleasant Valley.
