"You are definitely in a select group," Superintendent Doug Wagner told the boy, flanked by his beaming parents, Mark and Linda Hagan of Williams Township. "I am sure that Alex would not be where he is today without his parents."
On an evening where the board was talking about test scores, Hagan said he would like to see the high school’s curriculum beefed up.

"More AP [advanced placement] classes would be better," said Hagan, who wore a T-shirt bearing the likeness of infamous (and fictional) chemist Walter White. And the district could do more to "push scholarships," he added.
Hagan's parents, who say their son hopes to attend Yale or University of Pennsylvania, had a message to other parents in the district.
"We paid a lot of attention to him," said Mark Hagan. By age 4, he said, little Alex was reading the newspaper. "We worked with him at an early age."
