Woman Stole $5,000 From Ex's Mom, Police Say

Easton resident Sabrina Grey charged with theft in Plainfield Township.

An Easton woman admitted taking $5,000 earlier this year from a locked strongbox her ex-boyfriend’s mother, who lives in Plainfield Township, kept in a bathroom closet.

The suspect, Sabrina M. Gray, 32, later gave $3,000 to a man, apparently the ex-boyfriend, according to court records.

Now police say Gray still owes the mother $2,000 and Gray is being charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property.

A criminal complaint filed by Plainfield Officer Christopher Ryan says the theft occurred sometime between Feb. 27 and March 7.

On March 7, another township officer took a theft report from the mother, who lives on Frable Street.

Two days later, the mother said that Gray admitted to the $5,000 theft and gave a man $3,000. The complaint identifies the man, but does not say if it was the woman’s son.

Ryan requests in the complaint that Gray pay back the $2,000 she still owes to the mother.

The complaint was approved April 18 and Gray was taken into custody Tuesday.

Gray, of 343 E. Nesquehoning St., was arraigned Tuesday night by on-duty District Judge Diane Marakovits of Northampton and released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
