Da Vinci Science Center Recieves New Capital Support from PPL

The Da Vinci Science Center (DSC) has received $20,000.00 in new capital support provided by PPL Corporation of Allentown, Pa.

PPL has been one of the Da Vinci Science Center’s top corporate partners for nearly 15 years, said MaryAnn Woods Przekurat, the Center’s interim Executive Director and CEO. Along with supporting the Center financially, PPL has developed several exhibit experiences and partnered in several programs. PPL is the Presenting Sponsor of the Center’s Watt’s Up? exhibit area – which features the popular dark tunnel and shadow room and explores light and electricity.

PPL Corporate Controller Vincent Sorgi is currently the Da Vinci Science Center’s Board Treasurer and Laurie Ryan, Senior Director of Talent Management, Organizational Development, and Diversity for PPL, is currently the Center’s Board Secretary.

PPL Corporation companies – including seven operating utilities – deliver electricity and natural gas to more than 10 million customers in the United States and the United Kingdom. The Da Vinci Science Center is an independent nonprofit organization and has inspired enthusiasm for science’s ExSCIting Possibilities, careers, and impacts throughout people’s lives since 1992. Da Vinci Science Center experiences include a two-story exhibit floor with more than 100 exhibits; nearly three-dozen programs for curious minds of all ages, students, educators, and community groups; and strategic regional workforce initiatives. These initiatives – including the Year of the Human Body project with St. Luke’s University Health Network from Sept. 2012-Sept. 2013 – integrate limited-engagement exhibit experiences with community programs highlighting workforce development opportunities and needs.
