Emma F. Schmeltzle

Emma F. Schmeltzle (aka the Dandelion Lady), 88, of Vera Cruz, died October 16, 2011 in the Emmaus Village. She was the wife of Richard W. Schmeltzle for the past 65 years. Born in Limeport, she was a daughter of the late Howard E. and Sadie M. (Erney) Folk. She was employed as a sewing machine operator at Fuller Sportswear in Fullerton for 17 years until retiring in 1986. She previously worked at the former Emmaus pajama factory for many years. Emma was a member of Chestnut Hill Church, Limeport, Vera Cruz Community Association and the Vera Cruz and Emmaus Senior Citizens Clubs. Survivors: Husband; son, Terry and his wife, Betsey; daughter, Karen, wife of Ron Kemp; grandchildren, Steven Schmeltzle, Jessica Bortz and Andrew Kemp; six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm St., Emmaus. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Contributions: In lieu of flowers to Chestnut Hill Church, 6870 Chestnut Hill Church Road, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
