Lehigh Valley Men's Senior Baseball League accepting youth players in 2013

The Lehigh Valley Men's Senior Baseball League is accepting youth players for the first time as it enters the 2013 season.

The largest baseball league in the region is seeking to add younger players starting at age 16 and up with the goal of adding a Youth Division next season. The League provides an opportunity for players to play hardball without the politics that often come with school and youth leagues. The league is holding a tryout and draft for new players 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, March 24, at the Lehigh Valley Baseball Academy at 1716 E. Tremont St. in Allentown.

"The Lehigh Valley Men's Senior Baseball League has a long tradition of providing the excitement of real baseball in a family-friendly setting to thousands of people throughout the greater Lehigh Valley every year. The more people who discover our league, the more that excitement grows," League President Ron Cahill said. "We can't wait to share that excitement with a new era of players who can enjoy the Lehigh Valley MSBL for years to come."

Youth players can try out this season to play for existing 18 teams. The league is also accepting adult players for the 2013 season. Teams play in 18+, 25+, 35+ and 45+ divisions. There is no upper age limit.

The Lehigh Valley MSBL includes players of all skill levels, from former Little Leaguers to softball players who yearn for the game they grew up playing to former professionals. Teams play throughout the greater Lehigh Valley region, including in New Jersey. Founded in 1988, the Lehigh Valley MSBL includes a record 47 teams and almost 800 players for the 2013 season.
