Now and Then Books Moves Up

Used books, new location –

Independently owned and operated used bookstore moves on up. Literally.

Now and Then Books has recently moved from its underground basement location in Allentown to a street level home on the corner of Broad and South 4^th Streets in Emmaus.  Touting itself as the largest used bookstore in the Lehigh Valley for the past ten years, Now and Then Books continues to fit the bill with over 1100 square feet of a fine selection of gently used books.   The store offers over 150,000 volumes of both soft and hard covers in an array of subjects ranging from all types of fiction, children and young adult, literature, and antique and collectible editions.  A generous trading policy is also offered, helping to keep costs to the reader even lower.

Now and Then Books in now located in an historic 1870 building. The wrap around porch with a bench for relaxing, is a welcome relief from the steep stairs that greeted customers at its old location.  Once inside, warm hardwood floors, large broad windows with deep sills and wide moldings are some of the more noticeable features of the new shop.   Each room is filled with a well organized inventory of books that are sure to fill the needs of any reader.   The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable with seating provided for a relaxing break.  

Founded in 2002, Now and Then Books roots trace back to the Emmaus area where it was originally known as the “Book Rack” on Chestnut St.   Owners Thomas Christian and Dennis Corcoran always had visions of returning the store to the Emmaus area and getting back on ground level but finding the right fit for this vision proved more difficult than anticipated.   After 10 years and multiple tours of several properties the plan has come to fruition with the opening of their current location.
