President Obama

I am a staunch supporter of President Obama. I have more than once been identified by the term "Obama Lover." That term is a subtle variation of the pre-civil rights term "N***** Lover." I was never a racist then and I am not a racist now and I never will be a racist. The fact that that term is used in its new form is a sign that society has a long way to go as far as maturation.

I like president Obama but I love God, my family, and my country.

I sincerely think that the people who have the gall to call anyone who supports the President an "Obama Lover" are actually subtle racists.

Barack is a man with a dark complexion and I am a man with a light complexion. He is brilliant and I am average. Other than that, we are very similar. He likes the same things I do. He likes honesty. He likes being forthright. He likes to listen to diverging opinions and then he takes his time before he makes up his mind on an issue. He's proud to be an American. He's trying to be the very best president that he possibly can. He likes transparency in government. He does make mistakes but he always admits his mistakes unlike some presidents we've had.

I met three men at the A.C. Air show this year that fought in Vietnam and they told me that Obama is the best president we've ever had. They said he doesn't vacillate like a politician. He makes up his mind to order a strike at known terrorist locations and makes no apologies for his actions. One of the vets I met had tears welling in his eyes as he talked about Obama. Barack is a ray of light to them, a brightness shining out of the darkness of the Vietnam War where many died because people in Washington didn't give them permission to fire. Those three guys were white and they were all United States Marine Corps. One was in a wheel chair.

The USA's financial problems have been building for a long time and Barack did not cause them. In three years, people expect him to fix them with some sort of magic wand. It isn't going to happen. People before him dug a big hole and he's busy trying to dig us out of it while at the same time extricating our warriors from Iraq by the end of the year.

So to sum up, if you don't like Barack (or me for supporting him), kindly use more enlightened terms and leave the racist comments out of it. And to all the thousands of drafting students that I had the honor and privilege to know and teach at Lincoln Technical Institute in Allentown, Pennsylvania, I encourage you to vote for Barack Obama. Ditto for the lesser amount of night school students at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.

I'm John Royer and that's all I have to say today.
