What did you bring for appraisal? “I brought a sled that has been in our family.”

Tell me about this item and why it is special to you:  “I wanted to get some history on the sled that I used as a kid.  It was made in the United States, not China or Japan, by a company in Philadelphia. It’s a Flexible Flyer Sled and I thought it might be worth something, especially when I saw the words ‘Mickey Mouse’ stamped on the bottom.”

What were the auctioneer’s comments? The auctioneer said it was an unusual size—a little shorter than most.  It does show the manufacturer and model number on the underneath and was probably made around 1910. He said the words ‘Mickey Mouse’ did not mean anything—at least that he knew of.

What was his appraisal of your item?  $35-$50 at the present time, but probably higher in the winter months — maybe $60-$70.

How do you feel about that?  “I feel pretty good.  It’s about what I figured.”

Do you have any plans for your item?  “I plan to sell it.  I have no use for it anymore.”
