FREE Family Events for the Weekend
Here are some things going on nearby this weekend that won't cost you a cent.

DIY Workshop at The Home Depot
It’s the first Saturday of the month and that means it’s time for the free kids workshop at Home Depot. Designed for kids ages 5 to 12, participants make a hands-on woodcraft and get a Home Depot apron and a project pin. The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to noon, while supplies last. It pays to go early, because stores have been known to run out of projects as it gets closer to noon. The closest Home Depot store to our area is at 1951 Glenwood Street SW, Allentown.Â
Tour the Allentown Art Museum
Bank of America and Merrill Lynch cardholders can tour the Allentown Art Museum, 31 North Fifth Street, Allentown, for free on Saturday, Jan. 7 and Sunday, Jan. 8 during normal museum hours. It’s part of the BOA/ML Museums on Us program, which covers more than 150 leading U.S. cultural institutions, in 91 cities across the country. It happens the first full weekend of each month and allows one free admission per cardholder. For more details, visit: http://museums.bankofamerica.com. Â
Ice Cream Wars at the DaVinci Center
Okay, this one isn’t entirely free -- you do have to pay the cost of admission to the DaVinci Center, 3145 Hamilton Blvd. Bypass, Allentown -- but it is pretty cool. Once you are inside, you get to eat ice cream for FREE and vote for your favorite flavor of liquid nitrogen ice cream produced as part of the Ice Cream Wars 4.0. Ice Cream Wars runs between noon and 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7.
