Meet Judy Knoll, McDonald's Drive-Thru Attendant
Many locals are familiar with the sweet voice that welcomes them as they place their breakfast order in the drive-thru line at the McDonald's on Chestnut Street in Emmaus.

Tell us aboout what you did before working for McDonald's.
"I’m retired from Kraft Foods. I did miscellaneous labor and production. I used to model for Hess's in the ‘60s with the Hess's Fashion Caravan. I’m featured in the first video."

Where did you go to school?
"I graduated from Voice and Diction School in Allentown on 8th Street. It was the first modeling school in Allentown. It was called the Judy Greenwood House of Charm Modeling and Finishing School (now Jan Nagy Modeling and Finishing School). That’s how I got into Hess's. I was there about three to four years and moved on to Florida to model for a bathing suit company."
Tell us about your family.
"I have three children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. My son lives here on the mountain. He’s been here about 20 years. I used to watch his children."
What do you love about working here?
"Emmaus is so nice. The customers are just fantastic. They are so sweet. It’s a nice little town."
What’s your favorite thing to eat/drink at McDonald's?
"Scrambled eggs and steak. We have a steak, egg and cheese bagel, but I just like the scrambled eggs and steak on a platter or on an egg biscuit. Mmm, mmm, mmm. Our Diet Coke is the BEST! With lemon!"
Have you always lived in the Lehigh Valley?
"Yes, except World War II. We were in Texas. We went with my father when he was in the war. He was a parachute rigger. He made the parachutes the service men used to jump. We lived in Corpus Christi, Kingsville and Houston. I was about three to six."
What do you like to do for fun?
"I love to go to the ocean. I love to swim. I love to read light mysteries. I bought a Kindle, so I do it on there or I buy the paperbacks."
What's your favorite book?
"I like the Cat Who ... books by Lillian Jackson Braun."
What kind of music do you like?
"I like the old rock and roll. But I like classical music too. I used to play the viola in high school."
Do you watch much TV?
"I love the old movies like Gone With the Wind, Casablanca and Maltese Falcon – all those kind of movies."
