Rite Aid Issues Cookie Recall

is recalling 85,000 tins of butter cookies because of a possible bacterial contaimination.

The drug store chain says the recall affects cookies sold under the Rich Fields brand. They come in 12 ounce packages, and feature a castle or Christmas design. According to Rite Aid, the cookies could contain a bacterium called Bacillus cereus.

While the chances the bacteria causing a serious illness are remote, Rite Aid says it could cause diarrhea, nausea and/or vomiting. The recall was put in place after testing revealed an unusual smell coming from the cookies.

The cookies can be identified by the UPC codes 01249596519 and 88411804619. Customers can return them to Rite Aid for a full refund.
