Taste of Italy Cooks up Some Good Italian Food

This "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant in Allentown serves its Italian food on a comfort level.

I’m sure many of you have fallen in love with the great Italian food at Carrabba’s, but the next time you crave Italian, head to Taste of Italy.  But don’t let its odd location fool you – it sits in between a Dollar Store and a Bottom Dollar Foods. It’s a pretty popular place.  With cream-colored walls, wine bottles lining the half wall, and paintings of Italian chefs, Taste of Italy lets its diners step out of the city atmosphere and into an Italian one.

The menu offers many classic Italian dishes like Gnocchi Marinara, Chicken Cacciatore, and Manicotti as well as nice selection of salads (the Mozzarella Caprese is one of my favorites), sandwiches, and pizzas. There’s also a good variety of seafood such as Tilapia and Shrimp Picatta or Lobster Tail Sinatra and a list of Chef Specialties like Lamb Chops and Filet Pizzaiola.

As far as drinks go, there’s plenty of wine available, as well as martinis, margaritas, and after-dinner drinks like Café Amaretto.

My meal:  a Bella Sera Pinot Grigio, and the Chicken Dean Martin (chicken, marsala sauce, lump crab meat, and mozzarella), which came with a house salad and warm bread with olive oil for dipping.  Everything was delicious, so I’d give it a 5/5.
