The Details on our Mystery Photo are Revealed

As many Emmaus Patch users correctly guessed, the item in our mystery photograph is the corn.

Okay, okay, so you guessed it…this week’s mystery photo shows corn. If you’ve driven along one of the back roads winding through and around Emmaus Patch recently, you’ve probably passed a dried out corn field or two (or 12). This particular photo was taken on Kohler Road near in Upper Milford Township.

Thank you to everyone who posted guesses on Emmaus Patch. A special tip of the hat goes to Emmaus Patch user Lumpy 1 who tried to set the record straight as to what is actually being seen in the photograph.

“Actually the verb isn't husked but rather shelled, if a farmer was out husking corn, he would be driving a tractor with a corn picker with rubber rollers that rip off the husk surrounding the ear and running the intact ear of corn into a wagon. Shelling corn removes the kernels as here, with a combine with a corn head on it for high speed husking of the ear, then shelling, the grain send to the combine bin.”

Every Wednesday Emmaus Patch will post a picture taken somewhere in Emmaus/Upper Milford Township and ask you to guess what it is or where you've seen the image in and around town. Answers will be revealed on Fridays.
