1. Measles Cases Continue to Rise Across Pennsylvania; Erie County Remains at Zero (erienewsnow.com) — Erie County health officials say there are still zero local measles cases, but they're urging Erie residents to check their vaccination status as nearby counties see rising infections and several deaths statewide. To help residents prepare for both flu and COVID-19, the Erie County Department of Health will host its free "Boo to the Flu" vaccination event on October 7 from 3–5 p.m. in partnership with LECOM.
   

2. Erie County to Launch Kiosk for Health and Safety Needs (erienewsnow.com) — Erie County's Health Department is opening a new Community Health Kiosk today at 606 West 2nd Street, offering free Narcan, first aid and hygiene kits, plus safe needle disposal. The goal is to make overdose prevention tools and basic health supplies easier to access while reducing stigma and improving safety for Erie County residents.
   

3. 2027 Erie County Budget Proposal Includes No Tax Increase (erienewsnow.com) — Erie County's proposed 2027 budget holds the line on property taxes while tapping $4.5 million from rainy day funds to stay balanced. The plan boosts public safety and health, gives county employees a 4% raise, avoids layoffs by cutting vacant positions, and now heads to County Council for approval by December 1.
   

4. Loving Giving Local: Regional Science Consortium Center (yourerie.com) — Right on Erie's bayfront at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, the Regional Science Consortium is quietly monitoring Presque Isle's beach water quality, harmful algal blooms, and local fisheries to keep residents and pets safe. The group, which educates thousands of Erie County students each year, just received a "Loving Giving Local" donation and is gearing up for a Forensic Science Murder Mystery fundraiser on October 10.
