A woman's purse reported stolen at the Braddock Hills Giant Eagle Nov. 19 was found by a man a few days later—minus the cash. Also, other Forest Hills police news.
A Forest Hills resident approached a Forest Hills police car parked at the Speed-D-Mart on Ardmore Boulevard on Nov. 24 to inform the officers inside that he had found a black ladies purse while walking on Yost Boulevard, just below Ardmore Manor Drive.
One of the officers remembered hearing on a local news station that a woman had her purse stolen from a shopping cart at the Braddock Hills Giant Eagle. The officer contacted Braddock Hills police and confirmed that the Forest Hills resident whose purse was stolen Nov. 19 was the same name as on the identification in the purse.
A Forest Hills officer delivered the purse to the woman's home. Although the credit cards and other identification remained, the $80 the woman reported having in the purse was missing.

Nov. 28
Police received a report of a black Audi driving recklessly in the eastbound lanes of Ardmore Boulevard. The car had last been seen approaching Fairfax Road but officers were unable to locate the car in the area.
Nov. 27
Police responded to a call about two men loitering in Tulip Alley. Upon arrival, officers were unable to locate the men.
Nov. 25
A woman came to the police station to report an underage drinking party at a residence in the 300 block of Marion Avenue. When police arrived at the scene, they found only the resident and his girlfriend—and no signs of a party.
Nov. 24
An officer on routine patrol on Ardmore Boulevard near Sumner Avenue spotted a well-dressed, middle-age woman thumbing for a ride from passing motorists. She explained to the officer that she had been at a party in Turtle Creek and no one would give her a ride. Police gave her a ride to the Exxon station at the corner of Penn and Swissvale avenues in Wilkinsburg.
A license plate number helped Forest Hills police crack a case of "egging" at a house in the 500 block of Filmore Road. After running the plate number, the officer learned the vehicle involved in the drive-by egging belonged to a resident of the 300 block of Overdale Road. The resident's son and three of his friends were at the home when police arrived. She reported that the teenagers had just returned. After being confronted with evidence offered by police, the four young men confessed to throwing the eggs at the home. They will be issued citations for disorderly conduct.
Nov. 23
An officer on patrol in Chalfant Borough was flagged down by a man who had found a wallet on the ground in front of his residence on Fairview Avenue. The officer checked the wallet for identification. One had an address on Lenox Avenue but the officer found an updated address and planned to contact the owner to return the items.
A resident of the 100 block of Chalet Drive reported that sometime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., a vehicle struck the driver's side mirror on her 1904 Saturn Ion. The mirror was ripped from the door and dangling by its cord.
Nov. 22
Police responded to a report of a suspicious man walking in the street, swinging a baseball bat in the vicinity of Braddock Road at Ridge Avenue. An officer spoke to the man, who said he carried the bat because he was chased by a dog.
