Dating 101: Choice, Chance, & Change

Dear readers,

The time for excuses is over. We can’t always reside in the lane of “what is/isn’t” and “what if” in life. You must ask yourself—what motivates you to make a choice to change the joy you desire to have in your life? This blog is inspired by the conversations that I have been having with others and myself lately about thinking big and walking into an exciting and challenging stage of life. 

Fear can’t be the excuse that we hold on to in light of our self-doubt. Even though I do recognize the need to plan meticulously, research, and strategize for what lies ahead, we can’t control all aspects of our life. Of course, this information is nothing new. But, at times, we all need to be reminded that the decisions that we make in our present lives perhaps are a result of us reliving past experiences. Therefore, we can’t subconsciously allow ourselves to define our future by our past. Facing the stereotypical notions in our minds that may prohibit us from love, financial success, and happiness are factors that we must face.

As human beings, I give our strength and perseverance more credit than speaking negatives into our life. Our psyches are designed for survival. The quality of that survival is totally dependent upon whom and to what degree we place value in our lives. The constant struggle with our rational and emotional mind is the flow of life. Remember, not all aspects of our lives remain the same, wisdom is earned, and letting go is a valuable skill to possess.

In the midst of your journey, I hope you find the inspiration that you need to actualize your destiny. For me, planning romantic and celebratory events with a different design each time is a challenge. I am dealing with love here 24/7!

The complexities of budgets, intriguing personalities, balancing my personal/emotional center in life, and endless deadlines are some factors that ultimately lead to the choices that I make. Surrounding yourself with people with great and positive energy who support you in your quest to self-enlightenment is valuable. We all need someone in our life who can be transparent with us. Yet, we are our own worse critic. So, be mindful to not hinder yourself.

As a result of me trying to take my own advice, the choices I have made to embrace the ups and downs and love unconditionally has created a man willing to take risks, and I am thankful for that essence in my character. I leave you with this anonymous quote, “You must make a Choice to take a Chance, or your life will never Change.” The courage that you seek does not have to happen all at once. Take the steps to build upon your courage one-character trait, one habit, and one principle at a time.
