Good Football Can Come in Small Packages

Opinion / sports

With fall upon us, the football season is fast approaching the halfway point.

And if you are a fan and haven't checked out the smaller version of the college sport, you really should. The lower divisions in our area provide a fun and inexpensive afternoon of entertainment. Go in any compass direction from the east suburbs, and within a short drive you can witness the sport for what it truly is - sport.

Without aspirations of making it to the big time, the young men in the lower divisions pour their hearts out on the field purely for the spirit of athletic competition. Whether you head north to Grove City or Slippery Rock, south to W&J, east to St. Vincent's or Seton Hill, you won't be disappointed that you made the drive. And with the leaves changing, the ride will be as colorful and fun to observe as the action on the field.

Locally, CMU and Duquesne also provide excitement at a minimal price. Enjoy football as it's meant to be played before the season runs out.
