Coldwell Banker Real Estate Services Announces Launch of New Community in Mt. Washington

The Woods at Bradley Street is a new planned community of 26 custom single-family homes perched atop scenic Mt. Washington.

Kevin Acklin, chief of staff and chief development officer for the office of Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto, joined Theresa Kail-Smith, councilwoman for the city of Pittsburgh District 2, Ilyssa Manspiezer, executive director of the Mt. Washington Community Development Corporation, Jeff Paul, founder and president of POMO Development, George Hackett, president of Coldwell Banker Real Estate Services, and invited guests for a ceremonial ground breaking, tour and reception at The Woods at Bradley Street. The ceremony marked the start of phase 1 of the building project, which will include 15 units and feature a model home, and a park preserving the remains of a Civil War fort.

The Woods at Bradley Street is a new planned community of 26 custom single-family homes perched atop scenic Mt. Washington. The location, situated next to Emerald View Park and 25-acres of protected nature preserve, offers the conveniences of city-life combined with the tranquility of a wooded enclave. Centered on the historic site of a former Civil War fort, one of two remaining in the city of Pittsburgh, these 3-4 bedroom homes will each include a two car garage. Prices for the residences will start at $425,000. The park will feature the preserved redoubt, dubbed “Fort Schultz” by its neighbors, a plaque, and easy trail access for visitors.

“The transformation and reuse of this location into viable housing stock is extremely beneficial to the area,” said Acklin. “This project is consistent with a vision to grow and invigorate the area, ultimately adding to the city’s tax base while bringing quality housing and important park space that preserves a historic marker in our city’s history.”

Three building lots that are part of phase 1 have already gone under agreement. Phase 1 is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2015.

“The Woods at Bradley Street is an exciting project that will incorporate new construction homes into an existing historic site,” said Paul. “Quality and attention to detail, coupled with the need for this type of housing, will provide our clients and customers with an opportunity to own a custom home that is convenient to the city and reflects the charm of the Mt. Washington neighborhood.”
