LIVE FROM UB: Screening of Short Films Covering Mongolian Rock

Pittsburgh-based documentary filmmaker Lauren Knapp will be giving two screenings and presentations of her forthcoming documentary “LIVE FROM UB”.


 


“LIVE FROM UB” is an exciting and informative exploration of the Mongolian rock music scene. It explores how Mongolian rock music played a role in the country’s development as a new democracy over the past 20 years and how a new generation of Mongolians are creating a new kind of Mongolian rock.

Knapp spent nearly a year living in Mongolia conducting research and filming interviews with Mongolia’s top rock and pop musicians. She created over 40 short videos profiling culture and the music scene in both urban and rural Mongolia.

Knapp will be screening several of these short films and discussing her experience in Mongolia. Plus she will share a chapter from the upcoming documentary, currently in post-production.
