The Organ Artists Series (OAS) of Pittsburgh will present internationally renowned organist Ken Cowan in concert at St. Paul Cathedral. The performance is co-sponsored by Dr. Ross P. Cafaro, in memory of his brother, Dr. Frank R. Cafaro.
Mr. Cowan serves as assistant professor of organ at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, N.J. Praised for his dazzling artistry, impeccable technique, and imaginative programming, he maintains a rigorous performing schedule across North America, Europe, and Asia. The American Organist raves, “Mr. Cowan’s technical mastery, expressivity, musicality, and sheer brilliance thrilled the convention audience.”
Showcasing Mr. Cowan’s talents is the landmark Rudolf von Beckerath organ at St. Paul Cathedral. Originally built by German organ builder Rudolf von Beckerath in 1962, the mighty instrument speaks through 5,010 pipes that provide the sound and architectural style of great European organs.
