Judge Hoots Hears Gun, DUI Cases

Wilkinsburg District Justice Kim Hoots heard the following cases on June 20:

  • Marcus Kevin Cephas, 51, of Swissvale, waived a preliminary hearing on charges of careless driving and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. A charge of failing to stop at a stop sign was withdrawn. Edgewood police filed the charges after an April 14 incident on Hawthorne Street and Maple Avenue.
  • Thomas Jackson Jr., 20, of Wilkinsburg, waived a preliminary hearing on a charge of firearms not to be carried without a license. A charge of tampering with evidence was withdrawn. Wilkinsburg police filed the charges after a May 29 incident on Ella Street.
  • Jarell Stenhouse, 28, of Homewood, was held for court on charges of having a blood alcohol content of 0.02 or greater-second offense, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and recklessly endangering another person. A charge of escape was withdrawn. Wilkinsburg police filed the charges after a May 31 incident on South Avenue.
  • Richard William Harris, 49, of East Hills, waived a preliminary hearing on charges of driving the wrong way and two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance. Wilkinsburg police filed the charges after a March 30 incident on Holmes and Wood streets.
