Lango Pittsburgh Brings Foreign Language Lessons for Children to Regent Square
Want your child to learn a second—or third—language? Check out these local lessons.
Children in the Regent Square area can experience other cultures and languages this spring right in their own backyards.
Lango Pittsburgh, a foreign language program for children, will be hosting several classes in the area beginning this weekend.
Children ages 18 months to 5 years old can learn Mandarin during 45-minute sessions at Mifflin Avenue United Methodist Church, 905 Mifflin Ave. The classes will be held from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays from April 13 to June 8.
Kyndra King of the South Hills began running the program in the Pittsburgh area in January 2012. A mother of four, King wanted to become involved in a program that introduces language to children at an earlier age when pedagogical studies suggest the human brain is more receptive to language learning.
The program teaches the language using games, dancing, singing, and arts and crafts. Families are welcome to try out a session for free.
Children up to age 11 interested in learning Spanish and French can do so at various locations throughout the Pittsburgh area.
