Brittany Garvey, a graduate of Brookfield High School in
Brookfield, CT will be performing in the University of Pittsburgh Dance Ensemble
spring show “Metamorphosis” on April 11th and 12th.
Ms.
Garvey will be performing in two dances, as well as helping backstage. She is a
graduate of Lori’s Center Stage Dance Studio in Danbury, CT and was a part of
their competition team. Ms. Garvey has performed with the Pitt Dance
Ensemble for two years now and is taking classes in the dance minor program at
the University of Pittsburgh, and is also a sophomore General Science major.
Brittany is performing in a dance by
Natalie LaBarbera and Korinne Heit who will be choreographing for the spring
formal dance concert for their first time. They have worked together
beautifully to create a lyrical style dance to “The Gravel Road” by James
Newton Howard. This piece is entitled Unveiled and includes the use of
blindfolds throughout the piece which creates an interesting image as each
dancer takes off their blindfold as the dance progresses until there is only
one dancer left with their blindfold. The other dance Brittany has the pleasure
of performing
is “Another Body” choreographed by Joanna Dehler. This piece is set in a bedroom
in which demons come in to torment the children in the room as the piece continues
the demons kill some of the children and even turn one child into a demon. It
is a haunting piece that will leave you scared when you return home after the
show.
