Program helps interfaith families tackle challenges

Interfaith family dynamics are the focus of a Squirrel Hill Psychological Services program at Temple David in Monroeville

Living & Learning, a service of Squirrel Hill Psychological Services (SHPS), will hold a program on interfaith families, to be held at Temple David in Monroeville, located at 4415 Northern Pike.

“Finding Your Way as an Interfaith Family” will take place on Sunday, April 26th from 9:15—10:45 a.m. in the Conference Room at Temple David. Wendy Levin-Shaw, LCSW, a psychotherapist at Squirrel Hill Psychological Services, will facilitate the program, which is intended to help interfaith families navigate the challenges that can arise when combining faiths. This Living & Learning session will provide an informal conversation about the various issues that can emerge in fostering a Jewish identity in families from differing religious traditions. Attendees will learn how to prioritize aspects of religious practice, decide on celebrating holidays and handle complaints from extended family members who may disagree with approaches. Attendees are also encouraged to bring specific concerns to discuss with the group.

Living & Learning programs are discussion-based and led by the professional staff of Squirrel Hill Psychological Services. They typically focus on issues related to aging, family dynamics and interfaith relationship challenges.
