Property Damage, Retail Thefts and Fraud Keep Edgewood Police Busy

Here are the Edgewood police reports for March 31 to April 4.

The following incidents were reported to the Edgewood Police Department:

March 31

  • Police assisted state police officers with a two-vehicle accident on the parkway. One driver reportedly was driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance.
  • A vehicle on Hawthorne near Locust drifted out of park and hit a borough sign as well as a Western PA School for the Deaf fence.
  • A man reportedly stole $174 worth of steak and seafood from Giant Eagle at Edgewood Towne Centre.

April 2

  • A borough resident reported that someone had tried to gain access to her bank account.

April 3

  • Police assisted Swissvale officers with a criminal mischief call at the Towne Centre Office Building. A female reportedly had slashed vehicle tires with a knife.

April 4

  • A vehicle reportedly ran over a tree and caused property damage on the 100 block of Dewey Street.
  • During a traffic stop on East Swissvale and Walnut, police found a small amount of marijuana. The driver and the passenger were expected to be charged with disorderly conduct.
