Teen Waives Hearing on Swissvale Brawl Charge
Forest Hills Judge Thomas Caulfield heard three cases last week.

Forest Hills District Judge heard the following cases on May 8:
- Robert Amir Quarles, 18, of Braddock waived a preliminary hearing on charges of riot-intent to commit felony, conspiracy-riot-intent to commit felony, simple assault-mutual consent fight, disorderly conduct-engage in fighting, obstruction highways and conspiracy-simple assault-mutual consent fight. Swissvale police filed the charges against Quarles and many others after a Jan. 8 fight on at the school bus stop on South Braddock and Woodstock avenues. Police found 40 to 50 people engaged in a brawl. The crowd was blocking traffic in the busy intersection, causing a public annoyance and alarm. The fight also had been posted on YouTube.
- Mark McCracken, 39, of North Huntingdon waived a preliminary hearing on charges of criminal conspiracy, possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of intent to possess a controlled substance. Wilkins police filed the charges after a March 18, 2011, incident at the Wendy's parking lot on Route 22.
- Daniel Joseph Hitt, 25, of Forest Hills waived a preliminary hearing on two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance and a turning charge. Charges of careless driving and disregarding traffic were withdrawn. State police filed the charges after a Jan. 19 accident on the parkway.
