Volunteers needed at the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council

Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council looking for volunteers in Forest Hills, Regent Square, Wilkinsburg area

Neighbors—

I work for the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, and we’re in need of more volunteer tutors in our area. Volunteer tutors work with adult literacy students on basic literacy skills (reading, writing, math, etc. – depending on a student’s needs). It is about a 4 hour/week commitment.

Every day, five to ten new students call our offices to ask about enrolling in our programs. They urgently want to improve their lives through the power of education. Please help us to meet this heavy demand for services. Your involvement will open up a life.

There are free tutor trainings coming up in May (in Green Tree) and June (in Monroeville), so if you are interested in learning more about becoming a tutor, check out: http://www.gplc.org/become-a-volunteer.cfm, or call 412-393-7600 to register. I really enjoy working with these students, and there is a lot of need, so I hope you’ll consider it!
