100 Nights of Taps at Gettysburg

June 21 and 22 will feature the youngest volunteer bugler in the Country, 12-year-old Aidan Peterson

For the second year, the notes of Taps will fill the air in Gettysburg every evening this summer as the famous 24-note call is sounded in honor of those who have served our nation. The Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania, in partnership with Taps For Veterans, and Gettysburg National Military Park, invite the public to attend One Hundred Nights of Taps each evening at 7:00 p.m. through Labor Day, September 3, at the Soldiers’ National Monument in the Gettysburg National Cemetery.

Buglers are coming from more than 15 states throughout the nation. One of the youngest participants is 12-year-old Aidan Peterson from Philadelphia. Peterson participated last year and is returning this year to play on June 21 and 22. He is the youngest registered volunteer bugler for Bugles Across America for the last three years. His commitment to the veteran community earned him three Presidential Volunteer Service Awards from the White House, the Legion of Honor Award from the Chapel of Four Chaplains, and numerous other awards/recognitions from local military organizations including the Marine Corps Honor Guard at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

As a Primavera Artist, Peterson has seven years of experience playing the trumpet. He is a member of the Delaware County Youth Orchestra, DeLaSalle String Band Orchestra, Upper Darby Sousa Band, and The Shipley School Honors Combo and Jazz Band. He was recently awarded second place in the North International Music Competition, competing against musicians from 41 countries.
