Thinking long-term: Tax abatement program could ultimately put more money in school district's pocket, Harrisburg officials say (theburgnews.com) ā Harrisburg officials say the city's LERTA tax abatement program will ultimately boost Harrisburg School District revenue, even though the district currently forgoes about $278,000 a year in taxes. With the district pausing its participation for 2026, city, county, and school leaders are racing to redesign the program by mid-October, possibly adding a sliding-scale abatement to keep development projects viable.

New hoagie, pizza restaurant opening soon in Harrisburg (local21news.com) ā A new hoagie and pizza spot, Bogeys and Hoagies, is set to open in October on North Second Street in Harrisburg, taking over the former Mother's Subs location. The owner is bringing back favorites from his family's Palumbo's Italian Eatery, which recently closed on North Second Street due to rent and repair costs, along with new Philly-style hoagies, wings, and burgers.

Pa.'s State Museum brings hands-on education to Harrisburg library this fall (pennlive.com) ā Families in Harrisburg can tap into hands-on history and science programs this fall at the George & Hettie Love Memorial Library on South 29th Street, thanks to a partnership with the State Museum of Pennsylvania. Monthly noon sessions for pre-K through second graders will explore Revolutionary-era life, William Penn's world, wild turkeys, and Pennsylvania's state tree while the museum undergoes a long-term renovation.
