Man accused of fatally shooting Harrisburg victim after being asked to undress: court docs (local21news.com) β Harrisburg police are searching for 21βyearβold Derek English III in connection with an August 29 fatal shooting on North 3rd Street, where Dowane "Hollywood" Lewis was found dead. Court documents describe an argument, nightclub footage, and physical evidence tying English to the apartment, and investigators are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact police.

Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority names new executive director (sportseventsmediagroup.com) β A new executive director is taking over the Hershey Harrisburg Sports & Events Authority, which helps bring tournaments and special events β and their visitor spending β into Dauphin County and the Harrisburg region. Danielle Vincenti, a longtime sports tourism professional, will now lead efforts to recruit more events, strengthen ties with local facilities, and grow the area's sports tourism economy.

3. Dauphin County quilters honor veterans with handmade quilts of valor (wgal.com) β Local quilters connected to Dauphin County's Middletown Peacemakers group meet the first Friday of every month at Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 542 in Harrisburg to present handmade quilts to veterans. Since 2017, they've created more than 800 Quilts of Valor, turning a shared love of quilting into a heartfelt way to thank and help heal those who served.

Three Pa. colleges awarded major grant to support technical careers (pennlive.com) β Harrisburg Area Community College is getting a share of a $3 million Johnson Controls grant to expand technical career pathways for students in fields like HVAC, fire protection, and digital technologies. The funding can support scholarships, transportation, childcare, and workforce programs, helping more Harrisburg-area students access in-demand skilled trades training and potential job opportunities with Johnson Controls and other employers.
