Harrisburg: “Black Men In White Coats” Screening And Discussion: The Library, Penn State College Of Medicine, And Penn State

The Library is providing streaming access to the 80-minute documentary “Black Men in White Coats” and hosting a panel discussion with Penn State College of Medicine and Penn State Health to facilitate a discussion about racial disparities in the medical field.

The film will be available to stream on Friday, February 19 through Sunday, February 21. The panel discussion will be hosted virtually on Monday, February 22 at 6:00 pm using Zoom.

The film examines why only two percent of American doctors are Black men, dissects the systemic barriers preventing Black men from becoming medical doctors, and addresses the consequences of this imbalance on society at large.

The panel discussion will continue the conversation and identify actions the community can take to alleviate this disparity. The panel includes doctors from Penn State Health and medical students from Penn State College of Medicine.

The “Black Men in White Coats” screening and panel discussion is free and intended for teens and adults, ages 16 and older. Registration is required.
