$11M Settlement In Deadly Police Shooting Of Delco Girl, 8
The Family of Fanta Bility, who was just 8 when she was killed by police, reached an $11 million settlement with Sharon Hill Borough.
SHARON HILL, PA — A large settlement has been reached in the Sharon Hill Borough police officer killing of 8-year-old Fanta Bility at a football game in 2021.
The Bility family and the borough reached an $11 million settlement in connection with the girl's shooting death on Aug. 27, 2021 outside Academy Park High School's football stadium, according to multiple news outlets.
The family filed the federal civil suit in October 2021, two months after the shooting

"There is no amount of money that will ever bring Fanta back or erase the horrible tragedy of what occurred on August 27, 2021 from our minds," the family said in a statement.
The family said it is planning to move forward and focus on Fanta Bility Foundation and keeping Fanta's name and legacy alive.

"Through the work of the foundation, we will continue to give back to the community as Fanta would have wanted, and advocate for legislation that improves police training and community policing in Delaware County and throughout the Commonwealth of PA," the family's statement reads.
Former Sharon hill Borough Police Officers Brian Devaney, Sean Dolan, and Devon Smith, pleaded guilty to 10 counts each of reckless endangerment in a Delaware County court in late 2022 in connection with the deadly shooting.
All were sentenced to probation.
With the plea agreements, manslaughter and involuntary manslaughter charges filed against the three were dismissed.
Authorities said the three fired their guns toward Academy Park High School's football field after they heard shots after a game on Aug. 27, 2021, striking and killing Bility, and injuring four others.
Hasein Strand, 19, and Angelo Ford, 16, are accused of being involved in a shootout with each other.
Their shootout is what authorities said led the officers to open fire, which subsequently led to the shooting death of Bility.
Authorities said they have determined that, beyond reasonable doubt, the three officers' gunfire struck and killed Bility and hurt the others.
The charges were recommended by a grand jury, which investigated the use of force by Devaney, Dolan, and Smith in the incident, which began when authorities said two others fired at each other in the area of the school.
Ford is accused of shooting Strand that night.
