Teen Charged In Fatal Delaware County Store Double Shooting

Samir Austin, 15, is accused of firing a gun into a Darby store, killing another 15-year-old boy and hurting an 18-year-old, the DA said.

DARBY BOROUGH, PA — A 15-year-old boy has been taken into custody in connection with a deadly Delaware County shooting that authorities said was by his hand.

Samir Austin, 15, of Darby, has been charged with first-degree murder, firearm, assault, and related crimes in connection with a Monday shooting that took the life of another 15-year-old boy and hurt an 18-year-old.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer Wednesday said Austin fired the shots "for apparently no reason" using a "ghost gun." Ghost guns are unregulated, unserialized, and untraceable firearms.

The boy is facing life in prison, according to Stollsteimer.

Austin and another person were in the store Monday, then left, but turned around and fired into the business, Stollsteimer said.

The 15-year-old victim was hit twice in the chest, and the rounds passed through him, striking the 18-year-old boy, according to authorities.

Stollsteimer said the 18-year-old survived thanks to quick emergency medical care provided by Darby Borough Police.

Austin is being held without bail and is scheduled for a Feb. 16 preliminary hearing.

The victims' identities were not released.
