2,700 Delco Nursing Residents Infected With Coronavirus To Date
Nursing home and long term care residents account for 21 percent of cases, but more than three quarters of Delaware County deaths.
DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The latest data on the coronavirus' impact in Delaware County shows the disproportionate impact on local seniors.
According to the latest data, a total of 12,430 positive cases have been identified in the county to date.
Of those cases, 2,700 have been nursing home or long term care facility residents.

That's nearly 22 percent of all cases.

- 60 to 69 — 404
- 70 to 79 — 457
- 80 to 89 — 615
- 90 to 99 — 445
- 100 and older — 36
Men account for 33.36 percent of nursing and long term care cases, while women account for 66.64 percent of cases in those facilities.
While that figure isn't that large, the percent of nursing home and long term care facility deaths in the county is much higher.
Delaware County has had 804 deaths to date.
Of those deaths, 617 have been nursing home and long term care facility residents.
Those 617 deaths account for 76.7 percent of all deaths in the county.

Men account for 41.82 percent of nursing home and long term care deaths and women account for 58.18 percent.
Twenty-two of Delaware County's 62 nursing homes and long term care facilities have active outbreaks as of Friday.
The county has gotten 120,834 negative test results to date and has an 83.25 percent recovery rate to date.
