2 Rescued From Overnight House Fire In Delco; They Were Unaware It Was Burning

UPPER DARBY, PA — Two people were rescued from a house fire early Saturday in Upper Darby. Firefighters say the residents weren't aware that the house was burning.

Smoke blew across the Barclay Square Shopping Center parking lot at around 12:30 a.m., when firefighters were alerted about a strong odor of possible fire in the area.

The fire was discovered about a block away, at a house on Fairfield Ave and Beverly Blvd., according to Upper Darby Professional Firefighters. Smoke was emanating out the attic window.

Firefighters rescued two residents who were unaware of the fire inside. Crews placed the fire under control in about a half-hour, containing it to its area of origin, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

There was no immediate word on what caused the fire.
