24/7 Highway Closure In Haverford Twp. Gets Extended
The lane closure has been in place for several months for a major project impacting West Chester Pike and I-476.

HAVERFORD TOWNSHIP, PA — The 24/7 lane closure on West Chester Pike in Marple and Haverford townships will remain in place until the end of April, PennDOT announced.
PennDOT implemented the lane closure Nov. 20 on eastbound Route 3 (West Chester Pike) for roadway reconstruction. The work is part of a $5.2 million project to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion through the Interstate 476 Interchange.
Previously, PennDOT estimated the 24/7 eastbound lane closure would last until March. On Wednesday, the state agency said it will stay stay in place until April 30.

The Route 3 lane closure extends from the I-476 South off-ramp to Lawrence Road.
"The majority of work is currently taking place under the bridge," a PennDOT spokesperson said. "Crews are repairing concrete and improving the bridge’s bearings among other activities."

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area in case of significant backups or delays.
The project is federally funded, PennDOT says.
