280 Theft Charges Filed Against Delco Headstone Company Owner

Gregory Stefan Jr., one of the owners of Upper Darby's 1843 LLC, is charged with 280 counts of theft by unlawful taking, records show.

DELAWARE COUNTY, PA — The owner of a Delaware County gravestone and engraving company has been hit with nearly 300 counts of theft charges, according to court documents.

Gregory John Stefan Jr., 54, of Gulph Mills, was charged in September with 280 counts of theft by unlawful taking, court records show.

Stefan was one of the owners of Upper Darby gravestone and engraving company "1843 LLC," which in January this year was ordered by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office to halt business and pay restitution to customers who did not receive services after payment.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer called Stefan a "crook" when speaking to Action News.

"He has robbed people," Stollsteimer told the outlet. "Over 69 victims have been identified so far, over $200,000 worth of money he's stolen from these people."

Stefan was released on $1 bail and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Friday.
