8-Hour Barricade Situation In Delaware County Ends With Man In Custody

Shots were reportedly fired after the man threatened his neighbor and then barricaded himself into an apartment for hours in Lansdowne.

UPPER DARBY, PA — A man is in custody after an hours-long barricade situation in Delaware County over the weekend, according to authorities and news reports.

Police in Upper Darby were called to the Lansdowne Towers apartments on the 700 block of Providence Road in Lansdowne at about 1 a.m. Saturday, according to Fox 29.

Krissy Gleason, who lives above the suspect, on social media and speaking with Action News said the man was banging on her family's door at that time, yelling obscenities and threatening the family.

According to police, a barricade situation was declared at about 4 a.m.

Shots were reportedly fired after the man barricaded himself into his apartment, the Delaware County Daily Times reports.

Residents who live in the area were evacuated from their homes, they said on social media.

Gleason said she and her family were evacuated at about 1:30 a.m.

By about noon Saturday, police took the man into custody, saying he suffered a mental health crisis.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The man's identity was not released and it's unclear what charges may be filed.
